Charter

The Air Force Association (hereinafter referred to as 'the Association'), shall be secular and non-political body which shall not be affiliated directly or indirectly with any political organisation or institution. The objects of the Association are:-

(a) To provide facilities for those who have served in and retired from the Air Force (to be known as beneficiaries) to maintain contact and fraternal relationship between themselves.

(b To preserve the memory of, and to honour, those who have died in the Air Force service or having served in the Air Force have died after their retirement.

(c) To acquire, preserve and display articles of historical and educational value concerning the Air Force.

(d) To carry out charitable, social, philanthropic, cultural, educational and other activities for the benefit and welfare of the retired fraternity and their families.

(e) To assist the beneficiaries in finding suitable employment or otherwise to help them in their resettlement and rehabilitation. Also, to provide assistance to them in matters concerning pension, grants, gratuities, allowances etc.

(f) To inculcate amongst the beneficiaries the spirit of self help and assist them in establishing small or medium size industries, poultry and dairy farms, workshop, vehicle servicing stations, transport services, commercial services or other gainful activities in consultation with Dte of Resettlement, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India.

(g) To establish and manage, primarily for the benefit of the beneficiaries, schools, colleges, industrial training institutes, libraries, reading rooms, laboratories, industrial and training-cum-agricultural production and other institutions for dissemination of legal knowledge or for gainful employment.

(h) To establish and manage alone or in co-operation with others, hostels, hospitals, guest houses, senior citizens home or such other establishments primarily for the benefit of the beneficiaries and other Air Force personnel and their dependents.

(j) To establish, promote and manage recreational centres, playground, community centres, clubs, sanatoriums homes or other institutions or facilities for the physical well being and for the care of the aged and invalid among them.

(k) To print and publish or to cause to be printed and published books, periodicals, pamphlets, newspapers or any other publications and to undertake production of or assist in the production of films, scripts, dramas, cultural shows etc. as may be considered necessary for the promotion of the objects of the association.

(l) To promote interest in defence studies and in particular in the field on national security, air power, military aviation, general aviation and allied subjects.

(m) To crate amongst the public, interest in the Air Force and promote interest in aviation.

(n) To crate trusts and or other similar institutions to award scholarships, stipends, loans, financial assistance for promotion of studies and research.

(o) To subscribe or to become members of or otherwise co-operate with any other association/associations in India and aboard whose objects are similar to, or in part similar to the objects of the Association.

(p) To create awareness amongst the public about the problems of ex Air Force personnel and their families and to enlist co-operation from other institutions, organisations, establishments, departments and other bodies for their re-settlement or otherwise to help them in solving their problems.

(q) To place at the disposal of the Government, the services of the Association or any of its branches, to be utilised in the event of wars, calamities, natural or otherwise, whether locally or at national level.

(r) To hold periodical conferences, meetings, seminars, lectures, exhibitions, film shows on matters of interest to the Air Force or other ex-IAF personnel and their families.

(s) To organise talks, discussion, seminars with participation on non-AF professionals, intellectuals and general public on issues listed at sub para 3 (l).

(t) Without prejudice to generality of the above and for the effective carrying out of the above objects, the Association may:-

(i) By purchase, lease, grant, gift, legacy, exchange or otherwise, acquire and hold, manage and use any land, building or estate, or any property, movable or immovable.

(ii) Maintain, build, erect, expand or alter any building or other work of the Association or reconstruct the same or any portion thereof.

(iii) With or without payment permit any building or property acquired by the Association to be used on such terms as it may deem fit, for meetings, lectures, discussions, exhibitions. social and cultural functions or for any other lawful purpose.

(iv) Sell, mortgage, lease, exchange,gift, demise, rent out or otherwise dispose off all or any part of the properties of the association.
